Standing on the shoulders of the students from Cornell, I made a device that converts BMP images to Etch-A-Sketch creations. It uses an arduino microcontroller instead of a serial mouse, and I wrote the software to convert the BMP image to a continuous line drawing.

I wish I had these guys' emails so I could thank them for the excellent writeup they did.

If this is a small renovation, I wonder what a large renovation will look like:) hope things are going as planned.

Demolishing it is a travesty. Why? It doesn't have to be ugly. Give it some color, accentuate the architectural highlights, let it stand out as a beacon rather than a blight. Label it blight, and that's what people will think. Lend it some illumination and thinking changes. The place needs a light color scheme, so that at night it isn't just people's yellow-lit windows. See http://glasssteelandstone.com/Temp/Singapore/Sing40.jpg for painted color, see http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3144/3077709559_dbe29ec98f.jpg?v=0 for illumination.

Don't blow it up ! Use it for some purpose. The walls and building must be build like a tank and have many years of life left (if you don't mind glowing in the deark). Seriously there must be some purpose for it. Adaptive reuse should be considered. This is my favorite adaptive reuse example in Illinois USA. http://evanston-condos.com/adaptive-reuse-recyling-condos-progress.htm They took an old steel cutting plant and are turning it into small business and living lofts.

[...] Today, February 12 2009, is the bi-centenary of Charles Darwin’s birth, a fact that cannot have escaped any educated reader. We’re glad to see there are no shortage of celebrations and we’ve already paid a visit to our monument in our local Charles Darwin Park. [...]
